HELEN W. AKER, 88, New Market, died Thursday night at Culver Union Hospital, Crawfordsville. Born Aug 11, 1906 in Clay County, she was the daughter of John W. and Mary (Muncie) Blair. She was educated in Clay and Putnam county schools.

On July 31, 1937 in Putnam County she married Lewis Baumunk, and he preceded her in death March 21, 1945. On Dec 1, 1967 at Greencastle, she married Forest Aker, and he died Nov 7, 1978.

A housewife, she was a 35-year member of Big Walnut Baptist Church, New Market Baptist Church and the 50 Plus Club at New Market.

Survivors include a son, John Baumunk, Lizton; two daughters, Mrs. David (Elaine) Keller, New Market, and Mrs. Larry (Mary Jane) McGinnis, Crawfordsville; two sisters, Harriett, Brazil, and Hester Rissler, Bainbridge; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Hila Emmert, and Hilda Baumunk.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday from Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, New Market, with Rev. Todd Randles officiating. Burial will be in Forest hill Cemetery, Greencastle. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
